AN INTRODUCTION BY IAN DANCE, CHAIRMAN OF MEDWAY RFC
We have ambition at Medway Rugby Football Club. We want to be the best club in the county, to play rugby at National League level and provide a club that can be used by all the community and not just elite players. Success in the first team means little if other sections of the club fail.
The Medway First XV has been funded entirely by sponsorship from former players and local benefactors up till now. We run a tight ship financially. Having brought the club out of debt and into profit we are not going to return there. We spent £30,000 on First & Extra First (second team) expenses last year even though we do not pay our players to play rugby. To achieve National League rugby we need funding, so we are seeking to expand the breadth and depth of our sponsorship.
The benefits of our strong first team already filter down to the rest of the club. It means that the stronger players in our youth section no longer have to leave and go to rival clubs as there is a path to high-standard senior rugby here at Medway. We have links in place with Saracens so exceptional players can move into the professional game but can do it without losing contact with us. We have strong links with the Kent Rugby Football Union by hosting county Under 11 & Under 13 play offs, the Kent Senior Cup final, and we host Kent Under 20 matches.
We trust you will want to become part of our story, to help us in our drive to future success and to the fulfilment of our ambition together. For further information or details of the sponsorship packages available at Medway RFC please click on the ambition document image.
