Welcome to the new season!
The 2016-17 season is now well underway with lots of training in progress and hundreds of fixtures planned for the coming weekends. I hope you all enjoy your rugby and time at the club over the next eight months. Please remember, respect and discipline when either participating or watching – it’s what stands rugby apart.
The newly appointed Executive committee have met several times since the AGM and will do their best to steer the club over the next year. Following a period of consolidation after the leadership change last February when Geoff and Mark decided to step down, we are now reviewing the plans both on and off field with a view to resetting our ambition for the next three years. More information on this will become available as we progress through the season.
The club would not survive without membership fees so please support Jeff Robertson and his team by prompt payment or setting up your Direct Debit. Like any family household or organisation we have to pay our many bills and buy the equipment you use when at the club.
Many social events are being organised throughout the season so please keep a look out on the MRFC web site and Facebook. The next big day is Saturday 24th September, three games of rugby including the First XV versus Hove, a beer festival plus food for you to enjoy!
The Medway mini’s festival is on the 2nd October and will be the biggest day of the year at the club. I encourage every club member to pop along for an hour or so, and guarantee you will leave impressed and proud of your club. It is fantastic to see so many youngsters having a great time at such a well organised event.
Best wishes and good luck for the coming season.
Ian Dance on behalf of MRFC Executive Committee
