UMSA Spartans

Proud to be affiliated members of Medway RFC

Founded in 2006 as the Universities at Medway Student Association rugby team, the ‘Spartans’ was formed in late September 2007 and moved to their new Priestfields home at Medway Rugby Football Club in September 2008.

The squad is comprised of students from three different Universities; Greenwich, Kent and Christ Church which presents numerous challenges during the course of a season. However, Spartans love a challenge.

The GK Spartans have a long standing tradition within the university as one of the biggest and most successful sports teams on campus. Whether you are a seasoned campaigner or a complete novice, you will be welcomed by all.

Training is on Monday nights at our partner club Medway RFC from 6-8pm.

Games are played on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm, either at Medway RFC or our opposition’s ground.

Socials take place every Wednesday evening and are always eventful!

The Spartans overriding target every season is league success for both teams, whilst supporting our home club and sponsor, Medway RFC. To this end all Spartans are actively encouraged and expected to attend Medway’s Thursday evening training sessions, 7:30-9pm and play for one of the Medway senior sides, of which there are currently five, on Saturdays, either at home or away.
