It was Mothering Sunday this weekend and what better treat for moms (and dads) than to watch their fantastic daughters run about in another chilly muddy field! There was a great turnout for our return fixture against Darts with most of the girls making the trip and a whole bunch of parents.
After a joint warm up led by the Darts coaches the girls settled into their respective teams for a match over four 15 minute quarters. Darts have a bigger squad that the mighty Medway meaning that the girls were all going to play the full 60 mins, while they could cycle through a few subs as the game went on, but they were all up the challenge.
The game was really close for the first two quarters with the teams trading tries every few minutes to excitement of the crowd who were right behind their girls. However as the game wore on Darts gained the advantage and the Medway girls started to run out of steam ending up well beaten.
The may have lost the game but all put in a full shift playing with their friends demonstrating the values of the club and rugby as a whole. Any disappointment was quickly forgotten by the time they had got changed and enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts. The ice cream van seemed particularly popular!
If you are reading this and would like to try rugby we are always keen to welcome new players, no experience is needed, maybe you too can be #lovedandfeared
