Medway RFC improved their chances of promotion with a huge win over Battersea Ironside.
It was a tough final away game and ended 31-40 to the visitors, with Max Bullock getting four of the tries. He opened the scoring thanks to Jonah Hyde collecting the ball in the line out. He finds Conor Chalmers who breaks through Batterseas defence and finds Bullock who scores his 20th of the season. Jamie Ford gets the conversion and it's 0-7. The second one comes soon after. Battersea has the ball but Medway intercept and steal it. The hosts fight back but Max gets the ball again, chases and dabs it down under the post. Medway tackle well and force Battersea into touch. Mikey Grice is shown a yellow for dabbing the ball away and the home side make the most it with a try for their number 8. It's 7-14. They fight hard to pull even but Medway's defence is strong and there are no more points before half time.
Battersea start the second half strong. Their 8 runs hard and breaks under the posts to make it 14-14. They pull ahead with a grubber that finds their winger in the corner. No conversion and it's 19-14. Bullock gets his third to pull even again after some great teamwork across the backs.
Battersea's 13 is the next to score. He picks the ball up in the midfield and charges down the field and under the post. Man of the Match Max Bullock sets up the fourth try for Medway. He runs from the half and finds John Sipawa who gets under the post. Ben Dance gets the conversion and it's 24-26. This is when Medway start to pull ahead. Bullock gets his fourth thanks to Dan Jackson hammering through Battersea's defence. Bullock ploughs through their 15 and over the line. Another conversion and it's 24-33. Medway's final try comes from Richie Ajuzie who picks up from the scrum and swandives over the line. Medway continue to tackle hard and try stop Battersea getting through and steal the victory.
They eventually break through for the final time and it finishes 31-40.
