In a dominant display at Canterbury Rugby Club, the Medway Girls U16 team secured a comprehensive 50-0 victory over the East Kent Barbarians. This away win not only demonstrated Medway’s prowess but also their sportsmanship and team spirit.
First Half:
Medway set the tone early with a try, showcasing their attacking intent. Throughout the half Medway showed their dominance in the breakdown, seizing each opportunity. A further 5 tries were scored with the following girls crossing the line: Ruby Prenter, Amelia, and Caitlin The best try of the half was an amazing team try starting just inside the Medway half, line out throw by Madison, catching was Mia and the ball then went through the hands at pace to Ola who ran a further 25 meters, cutting in to then unleash Summer who scored under the posts, an amazing team try. Amelia’s accurate kicking saw her convert five of the tries, giving Medway a solid lead at halftime. 0-40
Second Half:
The second half continued in the same vein, with Medway maintaining their dominance. Despite the scoreline, the game was played in great spirits. During the game Medway lent 10 players to the opposition throughout the match, including Pearl, Madison, Orla, Molly, Evie, Shaylee-Ann, Ruby Price, Summer, Grace, and Mia. These players should be commended for their efforts and sportsmanship, playing their best for the Barbarians. Phoebe Elliot-Bloomfield scored a streaming individual effort from her own half. Ruby Prenter picked up from the back of the scrum to power over the line and Caitlin followed up with the last try.
After reaching the 50-point mark, the game was paused, and the teams were mixed to ensure a friendly and enjoyable finish. This gesture highlighted the camaraderie and mutual respect between the teams.
