After two hefty wins in a row the under 14s confidence was high heading into a much tougher test against TJs who have been something of a bogey team through the age groups.
The game started and both teams set out to run hard and tackle ferociously not giving each other an inch on the field. Despite coming close and playing hard the Medway girls could not quite get over the line in the first half, while some missed tackles and great running lines allowed TJs to break away scoring 5 tries to go into the break with score 0-25.
The second half saw a similar pattern with the game being played at full speed and with huge commitment from both sides. Again Medway came close to scoring on several attempts only for the last pass not to go to hand, and again small errors in defense allowing TJs to capitalize and score their own tries, despite several last ditch tackles. Medway scored one try with Ashleigh Ellis crossing the line. Unfortunately TJs scored 4 and one conversion to end the game 5-49.
The game was great to watch and the score perhaps does not reflect the action on the pitch. The girls never stopped playing and should be as proud of themselves as we are. There is plenty to work on after playing one of the top teams in the county and they will learn and come back stronger than ever.
Special mention to our players of the match forward Amy M, back Kitty Collins and Coaches Ellie Desmond.
