"4 DREW"

Drew Wayment was a promising young second row forward who played for Blackheath, Kent, Saracens, and London & South East Division. Selected to play for England U16, he was diagnosed with bone cancer before he was able to wear the white shirt and red rose he had earned. He died in March 2009, aged 17.

His mother and sister have formed the "4 Drew" Rugby Sports Trust. Under the auspices of the Rugby Development Trust, they are fundraising in support of an initiative to introduce tag rugby to 800 children in Zambia over 5 days, ending with a tournament to be played for a trophy given in honour of their son and brother.

Please visit their fundraising page and donate if you are able - please remember to say you are a UK taxpayer (as long as you are) so that Gift Aid is added to your donation. Thanks.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

The club needs a few volunteers for next season for a variety of roles, large and small, to help with the running of the club. To register your interest, please contact Tony Ellis, Martin O'Brien or Mark Marriott. Phone numbers are here.

Medway First XV produced a fine display of dynamic running rugby to complete the league and cup double with a comprehensive victory over league runners-up Old Gravesendians. CHAMPIONS!

Medway - Kent 1 Champions

Medway are Champions of Kent League 1 after defeating Cranbrook 28 - 14 in the last league game of the season. Leading 18 - 0 at half time with a brace from Robby Ellis and two penalties and a conversion from Glen Wadsworth, Medway appeared to have killed the game when Kevin Kimble went over for a converted try early in the second half. But, as always, Cranbrook came back with two converted tries of their own, before Glen capped a brilliant kicking display and settled a few nerves with a superb drop goal late on. Report and more pictures.

That's three promotions as Champions in a row. Congratulations to all the lads and to coach Taff Gwilliam, and hearty thanks to the huge crowd that cheered them on to victory.

C'MON MEDWAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
